Manzanita Treasure Lost
Manzanita lost some of it's treasure on October 1, 2018 when Jim Mudd passed away.
Community treasure and founder of the Mudd Nick Foundation, many vacationers will recognize him from the Mudd Nick Hot Dog Stand when the Mudd's opened their property to welcome visitors and help the community in an incredible way.
And you thought this might be about shipwreck Oregon Coast treasure? This is a totally different Oregon treasure tale, one about caring for and helping others in a community.

Mudd nicks hot dogs stand is a local and visitor favourite.
Some visitors are aware of the Mudd Nick background, the the work that Jim Mudd spearheaded.
His passion was always been to help make people happy and improve children’s lives. Jim was a co-founder the Mudd Nick Foundation, whose mission is to provide North Tillamook County youth "with life-changing enrichment and educational opportunities."
The experiences provided are are all designed to help the children reach their full potential and help them lear fundamentals of good citizenship by emphasizing responsibility for their actions, respect for themselves and those around them, maintain a sense of high integrity, and expanding the life experiences local youth in their minds and curiosities.
Local parent Kristine Hayes said, “Over the past 15 years I have had the pleasure of witnessing hundreds of children’s lives changed because of the Mudd Nick Foundation, lives that were enriched with new experiences, broadened by exposures to new places, and deepened by introductions they most like would have missed without it.”
Through the Mudd Nick Foundation's many fund raising endeavours, they have uplifted the lives of local youth. The Foundation's Annual Golf Oregon Coast tournament and charity auction in September is a local favourite, not to mention the favourite casual Manzanita restaurant, Mudd nick hot dog stand, selling Jim Mudd's favourite Chicago style hot dogs.
Jim was the proud recipient of the Governor’s Volunteer Award for Lifetime Achievement as well as the Citizen of the Year Award in Manzanita, OR.
Fans are welcome to join his family at 2:00 pm in the Neah-kah-nie High School Gym on October 27th, 2018 to celebrate his life.
Following the service, please join his family and friends at the North County Recreation District in Nehalem Oregon to remember the unofficial mayor of Manzanita.
In lieu of flowers, his family asks that people consider instead a donation to Jim’s passion, the Mudd Nick Foundation.
Jim Mudd touched so many and spread good will. He will be very missed and always remembered by the community.
