Manzanita Cash Mob: Shopping to Help Others - Vacation Fun!

VACATIONERS LOVE MANZANITA

Those of you that follow along with Manzanita Beach Life know we’re all about our charming community. Because almost everything visitors love about Manzanita — the creative, laid back atmosphere — comes down to the community.

And many members of our small community are also small business owners or depend on those businesses for work.

AND NOW THOSE THAT LOVE MANZANITA HAVE A CHANCE TO HELP OUT — AND HAVE SOME FUN, TOO!

Manzanita Beach, Oregon

Most Oregonians know about Manzanita’s once in a lifetime tornado that visited Manzanita last October. You can check out our blog post for a refresher or to find out how you may help. You may even have attended our November Manzanita Cash Mob fundraiser to help out.

If you weren’t able to attend our November Cash Mob or help out, you have another chance! And for updates on businesses directly affected by the Manzanita Tornado, check out towards the end of this post.

Mark your calendars –

CASH MOB II, SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 18TH, 2017!

Mother nature recently delivered a one-two punch to Manzanita. First the 2016 Manzanita Tornado …

Manzanita, Oregon

Then the 2017 snow!

FOR A COMMUNITY IN THE MIDST OF RECOVERING FROM ONE BIG SURPRISE, THE SECOND REALLY MADE THAT RECOVERY MORE DIFFICULT.

So what can we do to help?

Attend Cash Mob II, Saturday, February 18th, 2017!

Are you perhaps wondering “What if I don’t need anything from the local shops in Manzanita?”

Unfortunately, this may happen. What we ask is that if you attend a Manzanita Cash Mob II that you spend a minimum of $25 regardless. You could buy something for someone else. Or, even just buy a gift certificate for a later date.

Are there any incentives for shopping at the Manzanita Cash Mob II? First and foremost, you can expect the business owner’s deep appreciation!

But there are incentives to shopping during the Manzanita Cash Mob: First is that you can count on multiple local retail shops holding drawings with awesome prizes. Second, if you stop in at the visitor center and show $50 worth of receipts, you will get a raffle ticket to be entered in for some rocking prizes!

February 18th, between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm is your chance to shop, help others, have tons of fun.

So What’s Been Happening With Manzanita Stores Directly Impacted by the Manzanita Tornado?

Follow along, and well give you the latest …

Yoga Roots Studio Manzanita Beach

YOGA ROOTS STUDIO, CHARLENE GERNERT AND KATIE CROSMAN OWNERS

Charlene and Katie opened the doors of their Yoga Roots Studio in 2014 until the roof over their studio was damaged by the Manzanita Tornado.

Noisy roof repairs did not go well with peaceful, contemplative yoga, so they temporarily located to the Manzanita Center for the Contemplative Arts.

Happily, Yoga Roots Studio has returned to their studio and are back to their regular schedule!

Moxie Fair Trade, Manzanita Oregon

MOXIE FAIR TRADE, SARAH SIMMONS OWNER

Sara Simmons (pictured above, right) is a similar face to many. Sara’s business Moxie Fair Trade, was one of the businesses directly in the path of the Manzanita Tornado. Without a roof, Moxie Fair Trade in Manzanita temporarily closed but Moxie Fair Trade fans were able to shop at Moxie Fair Trade in Seaside.

We’re thrilled to hear that Moxie Fair Trade is scheduled to reopen in June, 2017.

In the meantime, be sure to stop by their Seaside location.

Wisteria Chic, Manzanita Oregon

WISTERIA CHIC, DEBRA SMITH-STEPHENS, OWNER

Wisteria Chic’s charming shop was located in the same building as Moxie Fair Trade, and also lost their roof. Debra Smith-Stephens, pictured above during the November 2016 Cash Mob, relocated her business to 170 Laneda Ave. in the former location of Manzanita Fun Cycles, next to Manzanita favorite Bread and Ocean.

No word yet on whether she’ll return to her former location once the repairs are finished in June.

Longevity massage, Manzanita Oregon

LONGEVITY, CHRISTINA PYKTEL AND JAMIE TAYLOR, OWNERS

Housed in the same tornado damaged building as Yoga Roots, Longevity massage is also a business which needs a calm, quiet location.

Longevity temporarily settled into a nearby location, at the upstairs retreat of The Nehalem Beehive.

We’re very happy to report Longevity has returned to their renewed original location, and are back to their regular business hours!

Vino, Manzanita Oregon

VINO, DIXIE LEE, OWNER

Like many locals and visitors, we loved enjoying a glass of wine and good small plates at Vino, our local wine bar and eatery. Besides the wonderful atmosphere, owner Dixie Lee never failed to make a visit special, whether with the wonderful wine selection, the aforementioned tasty nibbles, or on special nights, wonderful live music.

Vino was one of the businesses that sustained damage due to the Manzanita Tornado. Word is that Vino will be relocating in May to another Manzanita spot, and that a Whiskey Bar will open in the former Vino location.

Bit by Bit, Manzanita is returning to our regular routine —
