So what is World Photo Day? Besides celebrating the fact we take more photos than ever before, the patent for the early form of photography, the daguerreotype, was made available to the public on August 19, 1839. It wasn’t until 2010 that this day began serving as a celebration for all photography.

You'll find the photographers that originally established World Photo Day encourages others to share a single photograph with their view of the world in celebrating the art of photography (see the link, above).
